We can sign the Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty
Hi Everyone,
The Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty is an important opportunity to make your voice heard in the goal to create a peaceful and just transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies like solar and wind energy! It was originally proposed by Pacific Island nations losing their land and experiencing dramatic effects from climate change for some time now. In order to create a sustainable environment for future generations and stop climate change, we must stop using fossil fuels. The link to sign the Treaty is at the bottom of this newsletter. This opportunity is made possible by Greenfaith—an interfaith group of religious organizations dedicated to a peaceful transition away from fossil fuels to renewable and sustainable energy options and an environmentally sustainable future for our world and future generations!
The fossil fuel industry is the most powerful industry in the world. It is aggressively fighting this transition--and has been since the 1908s when they knew about climate change and its coming tragedies and they hid it from the world. These behaviors are extremely corrupt—untold numbers of people and wildlife and entire ecosystems have died because of fossil fuels. President Jimmy Carter tried to start a peaceful transition to solar in the 1970s when he introduced solar panels on part of the White House—and the corporate-owned press found reasons to slam him as a weak president. This is ecocide--and this resistance must be stopped.
The Treaty is a powerful way for nations and Peoples to come together to create a new peaceful and environmentally sustainable way of life for future generations. Based on 25 years of research, I can say that almost ALL of U.S. wars were about fossil fuels--they were either covertly about fossil fuels or our entrance into the war was catalyzed by fossil fuels--so transitioning to a fossil fuel free world is a huge key to peace. The war in Ukraine is significantly about fossil fuels, because Ukraine was preparing to launch their own fossil fuel empire which would have posed a threat to Russia because fossil fuels are Russia's biggest source of GDP revenue. Also the initiating of Russia's war was partly an effort to delay and threaten the world's just on the cusp transition to renewable energy. Lastly, the expansion of NATO was another factor in Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Creating and maintaining peace, protecting Indigenous Peoples--who currently protect 80% of the world's pristine lands--and preserving a healthy climate, wildlife, and ecosystems for future generations will only be possible if we make this peaceful and just transition to renewables without fossil fuels.
You can sign the Treaty here: (It is available in multiple languages.). I hope you will also share it on social media, with your friends, and other organizations or ways!
